ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Aiming at pursuing the concepts of the European Green Deal and economic-environmental sustainability, ISM promotes a great effort towards the research for new materials and innovative ideas in the field of renewable energy and pollution reduction, encouraging an efficient use of natural resources. Thanks to a long experience in the field of the study of matter, from the theoretical approach to the characterization and production of advanced structures in the energy field, ISM is playing a leading role in the research on efficient and low-cost conversion systems of direct and concentrated solar energy (photovoltaic perovskites and organic-inorganic systems, hybrid thermionic converters, plasmonic structures), on the exploitation and conversion of thermal and mechanical energy (thermoelectric, piezoelectric and ferrofluids based devices), on storage systems of thermal and electrical energy, and on a new generation of permanent magnets for wind turbines and electric motors.
