Most of the cultural heritage objects hosted by museums are often stored in unsuitable climatic conditions. APACHE will develop cutting-edge technology to control and prevent the degradation of this heritage. The new approach is based on three pillars: 1) advanced sensing and absorption materials to control the artifact environment; 2) modeling to define the degradation threshold and discriminate between the need for prevention or corrective conservation; 3) remote control of the stress factors of works of art. The unique combination of these pillars will reduce the costs of a new generation of technologies for the preservation of museum art objects to the lowest possible level. Specifically, the CNR-ISM will take care of the development of environmental sensors for technological showcases.
