Development of new organic materials for the realization of electronic devices and integrated circuits for scientific applications, e.g., ultrafast switches, photon and electron detectors. ISM-CNR activities were focused on (i) ab initio investigation of known and novel organic semiconductors, as a support for the synthesis of new materials, and (ii) simulations of the assembly and of the electronic properties of organic semiconductors in contact with metal electrodes, functionalized by self-assembled monolayers of surface modifiers.
