Hardware

The Hardware facilities are divided into three branches: design, workshops for precision mechanics, and workshops for electronics. The available design tools are based on CAD workstations working with commercial 2D and 3D software. The precision mechanics tools range from standard turning and milling, drill press, cutting machine and sawing units, to the wire welding and electro-erosion. The workshop for electronics, especially devoted to the development and repair of discrete component circuits, is equipped with variable power supplies, welding units, and precision multimeters.
Mechanical workshops, which anyway contribute to support the technical activities of all the other TEMPISM lines, are located in the different geographic Sections of ISM. In TorVergata Research Area of Rome 2, the two workshops ARTOV1 (managed by F. Corvasce & R. Scaccia) and ARTOV2 (managed by G. De Santis) provide ordinary and extraordinary maintenance to the mechanical systems. Similar tools are provided by the workshop of the Montelibretti Section (managed by F. Pallotta) and by GLAM of Trieste (managed by F. Zuccaro), which provides direct technical support to the Elettra Synchrotron. Know-how and tools for electronics are located in TorVergata (managed by M. Rinaldi) and in Montelibretti Section (managed by A. Morabito).
