Mass spectrometry in gas phase coupled with the tunable synchrotron radiation allows to study the structure, the fragmentation patterns and the energetics of single molecules. With the help of high-level theoretical calculations, it is possible to obtain fundamental information on conformational and electronic properties of molecular systems.
