During the project laser based techniques have been used for the generation and characterization of nanostructured materials together with the definition of the formulation of operational protocols to be followed for improving the energy conversion yields of new technical solutions and new technologies adopted in the construction of the solar concentrators manufactured by the SME partner. Comparisons of the performance between the SME partner’s prototype and devices tested in the laboratory supported new technical drawings to contain production costs, increase conversion performance and integrate the new nanostructured materials developed and studied during the project. Other laboratory research activities to support the partner's activities regarded the survey of pi-conjugated donor-acceptor systems and nanostructured materials (noble metal nanoparticles) for applications in the field of new generation photovoltaics and components for renewable energies have been performed.
