The “Italy-Korea Forum on Science Technology and Innovation” is the main technical-scientific event between Italy and South Korea, which aims to strengthen the scientific and industrial collaboration between the two countries.
The Forum, organized by the Korean National Research Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Seoul and with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea, was held from 20 to 22 June in Seoul.
Cecilia Piccioni, Central Director for Integrated Promotion and Innovation of MUR and Federico Failla, Ambassador of Italy in Seoul, opened the works for Italy, while for South Korea, Kim Seong-Gyu, Director General for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and ICT. The Forum, framed within the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement signed between the two countries in 2007, is a three-year event held alternately in Italy and South Korea, which deals with topics of common interest and traces the way to bilateral cooperation in science and technology.
The event gave the opportunity to open the discussion among the Italian and Korean researchers on highly topical issues: microelectronics, hydrogen technology and the climate change, research and innovation for aerospace and for cultural heritage.
The following researchers represented the CNR: D.M. Trucchi from ISM, G. Squadrito from ITAE, E. Tocci from ITM, and A. Pecora from IMM, which presented the activities of the institutes with thematic insights. The ENEA, the Bruno Kessler Foundation, the Central Institute for Restoration, the Polytechnic of Turin, the University of Tuscia, the University of Roma Tre and the University of Pavia were also present.
For each theme, the applicative aspects and the concrete opportunities for cooperation in sectors that are assuming an increasingly important role in the international context were highlighted.
