The activity of the ISM branch at Trieste is mainly dedicated to the investigation of atomic- and nano-scale materials, of interest in the field of spintronics, electronics and catlysis. The research makes use of various spectroscopic and magnetometric techinique, largely based on synctrotron radiation applications. To this purpose the section built and now operates three beamlines at the Elettra synchrotron.
