Scanning tunnelling spectroscopy (STS)

Scanning tunnelling spectroscopy (STS)

Scanning tunnelling spectroscopy (STS) is a technique used in scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) to probe the local density of states and the gap of the investigated surface, therefore possibly providing a map of the electronic properties of the sample. The density of states can be sampled by properly modulating the bias voltage. The spectroscopy curves dI/dV can be acquired for single points or for surface areas.
