Research fellowship of Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica della Materia” (INFM) to work at the department of Physics of University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, in the group directed by Prof. A. Balzarotti. During this time he works on III-V semiconductors surfaces studied by electron spectroscopy techniques.
- November 95 – December 2001:
Research contract of the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) to work as beam line scientist on the Italian CRG beam line at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble (France). During this time he worked in the field of X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Using this technique he studied different nanostructured system for catalysis and semiconductor technology.
- December 2001 – present time:
Permanent position as researcher at the Istituto di Struttura della Materia (ISM) of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Rome to work in the domain of surface physics, interfaces and nanostructured systems by scanning tunneling microscopy, synchrotron radiation and optical techniques.
Current research activity:
He is responsible for the CNR project DFM.AD003.115.
He studies surfaces and self-organized systems produced by deposition of metals or organic molecules on metallic and semiconducting substrates. The principal systems recently investigated are: the electron correlated surface of TaSe2: the magnetic semiconductor GaMnAs; sub-monolayer deposition of organic molecules (alaninol, TiO phthalocyanine) on metal substrates like Cu(100) and Ag(100); sub-monolayer deposition of metals on semiconductor substrates [Sn/Ge(111), Sn/Si(111)] and semiconductors on metal substrates [Si/Ag(110), Si/Ag(111)].
