The EMERA project is a partnership between CNR-ISM, Costruzioni Motori Diesel (CMD) and ENEA. It belongs to the ENERGY specialization Area of the S3 strategy of Basilicata Region. The major challenge of this strategy is to increase energy production from renewable sources. This strategy is helped by the fact that the Basilicata Region has a great availability of natural sources such as big wooded areas and plentiful residual materials from the agri-food industry.
The aim of the project is to integrate the energy produced by solar cells and biomasses into a very compact storage module. After the industrialization phase is completed, the device will be avaialable to feed electrical micro-networks to render rural areas independent from the national network.
