New smart materials

Development of new functional materials with optical and electronic properties, environmentally sustainable, containing non-rare, non-toxic, non-environmentally hazardous elements which can replace materials with higher environmental impact;
Effective charge transport materials for opto/electronic devices, with low impact syntheses;
Materials for last generation photovoltaics,  which optimize the solar absorption, broaden its range (LSCs-luminescent solar concentrators), improve the charge separation and  are at the same time more stable, more robust and  engineerable in multiple junction configurations;
Metal Ï€-conjugated macrocyclic compounds as catalytic systems / redox mediators / electrode materials for the replacement of expensive and non-environmentally compatible catalysts or electrode materials, for  hydrogen production or CO2 reduction  by photo/bio/electrochemical routes and, more  generally, for the field of "biorefineries".
